About us
The Public Defence Solicitors’ Office (PDSO) is a national network of publicly funded solicitors operating from seven offices across Scotland providing criminal legal assistance. Operating as a direct service of the Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB), we advise and represent clients, who are eligible for criminal legal aid, in relation to summary and solemn cases at every level and in Scotland’s busiest courts all over the country.
We are currently looking for a Secretarial Administrator to join the Business Support team on a permanent basis in our Glasgow office. The job holder will work from 9am to 5pm and act as first point of contact for clients; manage office diaries; deal with telephone calls; and handle incoming and outgoing correspondence. Audio typing is a significant part of the role along with maintaining the electronic case management system. As a network we provide cover for other PDSO offices which is part of this role.
What we are offering
As an organisation, SLAB and the PDSO can offer a secure and potentially long term career opportunity with highly rewarding work that can have a considerable impact on people’s lives. Our benefits package includes learning and development opportunities, competitive holiday entitlement and a contributory defined benefit pension scheme.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled criminal legal secretary and audio typist with excellent administration and customer service skills. We are looking for a professional attitude and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
You must also be a fast and accurate audio typist with a minimum speed of 60 wpm. Knowledge of MS Packages is a necessity, with experience of using complex databases and/or case management systems highly desirable.
You should have National 5 or Standard Grade passes in English and a subject that clearly indicates competency in figure work, or equivalent level work experience.
